서울신세계안과 망막센터 연구진중 양현승 원장이 1저자로 최상위 안과 논문에 올해 게재
당뇨는 혈당 조절에 이상이 있는 대사성 질환으로, 만성적으로 높은 혈당이 발생하여 다양한 합병증을 유발합니다.
최근 국민건강보험공단의 보도자료에 따르면, 성인의 당뇨 유병율은 10.9%로 집계되었으며, 당뇨환자의 가장 중요한 합병증 중의 하나인
당뇨망막병증은 당뇨 환자 중 약 30%에서 발생하는 합병증으로, 망막의 혈관에 손상이 생겨 시력을 저하시키거나 심한 경우 실명까지 유발할 수 있습니다.
이에 당뇨망막병증을 막을 수 있는 다양한 방법 등이 국내외 연구진에 의해 활발히 연구되고 있습니다.
대표적인것인 항체주사입니다. 하지만 항체주사로 해결할 수 없는 환자들이 약 30%나 됩니다.
이에 서울신세계안과 망막연구팀에서는 이를 극복하기 위한 연구를 진행하였고 2021년 양현승 원장이 국내최초로 아디포넥틴과 당뇨망막병증의
상관관계를 SCI 논문 (Plos one; Impact factor: 3.752)에 1저자로 연구 보고 하였습니다.
또한 그 후속 연구로 2년만에 당뇨망막병증시 나타나는 황반부 부종 또는 맥락막 두께 변화 등과의 관계를 연구하여 2023년 major 안과 연구학회지로
최상의 SCI 논문인 IOVS (Impact factor: 4.925) 양현승원장이 1저자로 다시 게재하였습니다.
이 연구는 다른 유수의 해외 저자들에 의해 인용되며 새로운 당뇨망막병증의 치료에 대한 가능성이 열린것으로 평가 받습니다.
최근 Ophthalmology And Therapy 2023 (Impact factor: 4.927)에 실린 Potential Protective Function of Adiponectin in Diabetic
Retinopathy라는 리뷰논문에서도 본 연구들의 주요 내용을 재조명하였습니다. 이를 통해 당뇨망막병증으로 고생하는 국내외 환자들에게 좋은 치료제
개발에 한걸음 다가 갈 수 있을거라 생각하며 진료등을 포함한 임상 뿐만 아니라 질병극복을 위한 더 좋은 연구를 하는 서울신세계안과가 되겠습니다.
